Designing a multi-purpose exercise machine is not so new idea. It could be an ideal space saver plus a cheaper option as it combines a few machines into one. Moreover, the manufacturers have a great motive - this type of fitness machines are sold very well in department stores. ProForm also couldn't help but try to merge two of its best-selling products and put them on a single platform. They have designed ProForm Hybrid Trainer.

It combines a recumbent bike and elliptical cross trainer in one single machine. One of the most active visitors of our site (a real reviewer), Bike Doctor recently had a chance to ride this bike/elliptical in a fitness store. The following is his opinion:

"I love the ProForm trainers. This is a great company and in my experience their products are just okay. The Hybrid Trainer is impressed me how quietly operates. It was new and lubricated, I suppose ;-) The console display has both pre-programmed bike and ellpital workout routines or you can do custom work outs at various intensity levels. It doesn't have a backlight option on the display so it can be hard to read in a dimly lit room. At this price point you can not expect it to perform like a $1,000 machine. The seat is typical for this class of recumbent bikes. Most machines come with such basic seat type. It seems to be overall OK to workout with"
